الملخص
Teachers’ perception towards any practice used in the classroom is crucial for the learning process and it can influence its success or failure. The use of teaching aids in the language classroom is vital. At certain stages, teachers are advised to use them while other times, they are obliged to include them during teaching. This study was employed to find out secondary school teachers’ perception towards using teaching aids in their classroom. It also focuses on teachers’ selection of teaching aids and whether they influence the quality of their courses of language education. The perceptions of respondents were studied bymeans of a semi-structured interview that was conducted on six EFL secondary teachers in public schools in Sabratha, Libya. Qualitative approach was used to gain insight of people’s feelings and thoughts. The results revealed that traditional black-board and chalk classrooms are disappearing while teaching aids, mainly the visual aids,are growing in popularity and are constantly developing and transforming the means of learning and teaching. Teaching aids are becoming the norm in the classroom because they stimulate thinking and improve the learning environment in the language classroom.
